And We're Back....

I took a long vacation from blogging and it feels good to be back. Recently my Mom said, "I look for a new blog from you every week." Then she went on to say how much she enjoys reading the blogs from others in the family. She also told me that you can bind your blogs into a book! How cool is that.

So Mom, this blogs for you!! And for me, to have something to bind someday...


Where to start??? So much to catch up on...
It is FALL!! Officially my favorite season.

Mason is now 18 months!!! He has been running, jumping and can even do summersaults now! He's not much of a talker yet, but has his ways to get his point across.

Mason's stats at 17 months: Weight 26lbs 75%- Height 33.5 in 95% - His head is finally catching up to his body and is now in the 50% for his age group.

In other news... we have another baby on the way!!! Getting close to when we can find out what it is. So far we hear it is the size of a large lemon and weighs as much as an apple. Funny how we compare it to fruit! This little one will arrive the end of March. We are really excited!!

Welcome to the Neighborhood

We moved a few weeks ago into a cute little house only a mile or so away from our old place. There are so many things we like about our new location; better yard, sidewalks, quite street, bigger house... the list goes on. Everything was perfect until the turkeys attacked! Yep TURKEYS!!

On beautiful day Mason and I got all ready for a walk. I pulled the stroller out, strapped him in and preceded down the driveway. I spotted the turkeys walking down the street. I thought it was a funny picture so I ran and got my camera.

This wasn't the first time I saw these turkeys... earlier I saw my neighbor feeding them in his front yard and as he was feeding them he said, "don't to let them get close because they will claw you and they carry diseases."

As the turkeys zig zagged down the road I took these shots...

My plan was to stay a safe distance so as they got closer I decided it was time to get going. When I turned my back on them they started Running toward me making a crazy noises and moving their heads all around. (Which are blue by the way.) So I ran with Mas to the front door and couldn't get my keys out fast enough. By now the turkeys were at my heels and they looked pissed so I threw my keys at them.

That didn't work and they looked more wild and crazy then ever so I threw my camera at them. These are a few pictures my camera took while flying through the air. Notice the brown feathers.. that's because I hit one.

But these guys were not fazed by anything. I ran out of things to throw at them so I flung my arms and kicked at them. I tried to chase them away but as soon as I turned my back they were back at my heels.

Then a neighbor from across the street came running to our rescue. He chased them down the street long enough for Mason and I to get on our way. But before we could get far all the neighbors from each side and from a couple houses across the street all came out. What a way to meet them!!

I found out these turkeys live in a group of about 30 in the open spaces around us. They have a history of chasing down old ladies, runners, kids, and even men. The problem is compounded when people (like my neighbor) is feeding them. The rest of my neighbors have grown accustomed to rescueing people trapped by these guys.

Mike thought the whole thing was SO funny until it happened to him last Saturday- And he had to clock one with a hose. These things are waist high and SO aggressive.

I'm an animal lover and we rarely ever eat meat, but if these things are around near Thanksgiving time we are going to have some wild turkey!
